Pioneer to Raise Car Electronics Output in China, Thailand by 2009

Japanese Pioneer recently announced that it will set up a new plant in China and Thailand individually to boost the annual capacity of car CD and DVD players. The company stated it will inject two billion yen (US$16.5 million; US$1 = 116.7 Yen) for capacity expansion, to be separately shared by its new facilities in China and Thailand. The new China's facility located in Shanghai is slated to become operational by August 2007, with expected annual capacity of two million units by 2009; the new Thailand's plant is projected to start operations in April 2007, with annual capacity expected to hit four million units by 2009.
